Unity Centre, Northstowe
Currently under construction, the Unity Centre is set to become the hub of community activity for the first phase of Northstowe. It is due for completion in Spring 2026. Many activities and services are already being delivered from the temporary community centre, known as The Cabin, positioned next door to where the Unity Centre is being built, and it is anticipated that the majority of these will transfer to this permanent community facility.
The Council has received a proposal from Northstowe Town Council asking us to consider passing the building to them, as a Community Asset Transfer. The Council will consider this proposal and expects to take a decision on whether to accept this proposal in May 2025.
The Council is seeking to hear from other local community-based organisations that provide a service to the whole community to understand whether any might put forward a proposal of their own for the Council to consider alongside the proposal from Northstowe Town Council.
Therefore, we are asking that any community-based organisation interested in the opportunity to manage and maintain the Unity Centre makes a full and final application, setting out their case, by submission of an application using the on-line form below and supplying the completed financial spreadsheet provided, by 28 March 2025.
